What do I tell consumers?
You can play a vital role in avoiding confusion, providing information, and increasing consumer satisfaction by utilizing the available eRecycle resources. These resources include training materials for employees so they can properly answer the questions "What's up with this fee on my receipt?" and "What do I do with my old electronics?"; as well as downloadable signage to place in-store that promotes eRecycling options and information to customers.
Employee Training
It is important to educate your employees about how to explain the recycling fee to your customers. Employees can be trained using the following:

A small price to pay to protect our environment
California's eRecycle Fee
When you purchase a new TV or computer monitor,
you will be charged a recycling fee of $8-25, depending on screen
size. This fee is part of a landmark law that created the nation's
first eRecycling program. It helps keep harmful materials contained
in millions of discarded electronic devices from ending up in
landfills, while reducing pollution and saving resources. So for a
few dollars, we can help protect California's environment, and keep
us all a little healthier. For more information, visit eRecycle.org.
This text is used in the following materials. All of these
camera-ready designs can be sent to your local printer for
production in either color or black-and-white.
- Sticker (Adobe PDF,
51 KB)--for computer
monitor and television boxes.
- Banner ads--to be posted
to your web site or featured in print ads.
