STATE GOVERNMENT

California Integrated Waste Management BoardCIWMB promotes a zero waste California in partnership with local government, industry, and the public.  This means reducing waste whenever possible, promoting the management of all materials to their highest and best use, and protecting public health and safety and the environment.

California Department of Toxic Substances ControlDTSC's mission is to restore, protect and enhance the environment, to ensure public health, environmental quality and economic vitality, by regulating hazardous waste, conducting and overseeing cleanups, and developing and promoting pollution prevention.

California Board of Equalization―BOE administers tax and fee programs yielding more than $40 billion to provide essential services for the people of California. Board-administered revenues support hundreds of state and local government programs and services, including schools and colleges, hospitals and health care services, criminal justice, correctional, and social welfare programs, law enforcement, consumer services, natural resource management, and transportation and housing programs.

Bureau of Electronic & Appliance RepairBEAR protects consumers against fraud, economic loss, and physical injury from the repair or installation of electronics, appliances, and performance of service contracts.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT

League of California Cities―The League is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities. The League was founded in 1898 on the principles of local control and interagency cooperation. Currently there are 478 incorporated cities in California. Cities throughout the state, by themselves or with their private sector partners, offer recycling services to their residents and are eagerly awaiting the opportunities to enhance the e-waste recycling options available to their residents.

ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS

Californians Against Waste FoundationCalifornians Against Waste Foundation is a nonprofit environmental organization that works to develop and advance policies and programs to conserve resources, reduce pollution and build a sustainable recycling economy. CAWF has worked with state and local agencies, private and non-profit recyclers, manufacturers, and other environmental organizations to develop and implement California’s first in the nation e-waste recycling program.
